Invasive Species This is a work in progress. There are estimates that there are over 5000 non native plants in the US. I am writing about ones in our area. One thing that I find out that is not mentioned is the number of man hours we are wasting to try to control these species. In many cases, we have to use chemicals to control them (plants) and energy (gas) to get to the location. Specialized equipment is needed and often expensive.
