My Current Hobbies
My hobbies are kind of diverse. I believe hobbies are things one does not need keep doing all of ones life, but change as your interest and time allow.
I raced small sailboats for forty or so years. I even had some time on Ocean racers, and I might write about that someday. I kept honey bees for quite a few years and learned a great deal doing that. Knowing about bees made me a better Gardener, and I caught on because understanding bees had a lot to do with my trade as an arborist.
I have taken photos for 60 years I guess which served as a method to revisit the places I traveled too long ago. I lived in Turkey back in the early sixties when I was in the USAF. I lived on the Bosphorus and looked at all the ships coming and going to Russia. I have improved those skills and consider it a hobby now my photography page might be of interest to you. My most recent hobby which I am very enthusiastic about is fly fishing. I have doing that in a serious way for about ten years (as of 2012 }and tying flies for seven or eight. I will be posting some of my favorite flies on the link to Fly Fishing and will be keeping information on the various trips Check out the Fly Tying
Update 2015: I have always enjoyed gardening, and since 2010 I have been a volunteer at the Urban Ministries Garden in Charlotte NC. We have a pretty good vegetable garden with a 10,000 gallon water storage tank. There are some grow lights inside where we start and raise many of our vegetables from seeds. We also save lots of seeds from plants than lend themselves to that such as heirloom tomatoes, hot peppers, etc. We share these seeds with other community gardens.Check out Gardening
